The Leone Island boss Joseph Mayanja aka Dr. Jose Chameleone underwent a successful surgery worth Ugx 370m in the United States of America. This followed after he had complained of stomach pain for over two years and medics repeatedly advised him to get surgery.
His condition deteriorated during his journey to America last month, and upon admittance, it was discovered that he had a gallbladder issue that was causing bile to leak into his stomach.
The singer left for the US in the middle of June 2023 before heading to Jamaica with his son Abba, who had just graduated.
Jose Chameleone and his son traveled to the Caribbean country and, among other places, went to the former residence of Bob Marley, which is now a museum and was once his studio and is situated in Kingston, Jamaica.
He was reportedly transported to a hospital in Minnesota upon his return to the US, where he underwent urgent surgery.
Afterwards, according to people close to him in the US, he received a hospital bill that exceeded UGX 370 million.
According to reports, Chameleone has subsequently contacted Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja for assistance with the Bill.
On Wednesday, June 5, the Government-owned Bukedde newspaper stated, citing sources, that Chameleone’s fellow musicians and close friends in Kampala were driving the negotiations to get the Government to pay the medical bill.
