Eddy Kenzo satisfied with Grammy Awards nomination

Top Ugandan artist Eddy Kenzo has come out and said that his Grammy Awards nomination is just enough for him.

The Sitya Loss hit maker learnt about his nomination in the Grammy Awards on Tuesday for his song Gimme Love where he features American singer Matt B.

According to Kenzo, the Grammy Awards nomination is a win not only for him but for Ugandan music industry in general.

“I say being nominated alone is enough for me. It’s a win and I thank the people I worked with on this song, Matt B and his management,” Kenzo said during a press conference held on Wednesday at Fairway hotel.

Kenzo’s Gimme Love song has been nominated in the Best Global Music Performance category.

It will be battling with Udhero Na by Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar, Last Last by Burna Boy, Neva Bow Down by Rocky Dawuni featuring Blvk H3ro, and Bayethe by Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode.

This nomination made Eddy Kenzo the first Ugandan artist to be nominated at the Grammy Awards.

It should be noted that when Kenzo won the BET Viewer’s Choice Best New International Artist award in 2015, he was the very first Ugandan to achieve the feat.

The 2023 Grammys Awards ceremony will take place on February 5th 2023 in Los Angeles.
