Ugandan top vocalist Maurice Kirya is set to go into retirement from active music in 2023 after several years on to of his job.
Kirya made an announcement when he was issuing plans of holding a world tour before putting his guitar rest and vocals in the wardrobe come 2023..
He will hold a world tour and visit cities like Paris, New York, London, Rotterdam, Berlin, Dubai, Nairobi, Kigali, and climax his shows with a mega event in Kampala.
“It’s been a good 22 years! To all my fans, friends and supporters that made this journey worth it, Thank you! I hope you keep the memories alive. One last one for the road! 2023. New York, London, Paris, Rotterdam, Berlin,Dubai, Nairobi, Kigali, Kampala,” Kirya tweeted.
The dates of his world tour are yet to be announced but the news has left his fans with goosebumps with many still weighing up the singer’s decision to call it quits from active music.
“Come 2023 we’ll be wrapping this up in style and with a bang! Thanks to everyone that sung along, inspired me and supported me!” he further added.
Who is Maurice Kirya?
Kirya is credited as the pioneer of Ugandan soul music, a style he’s aptly dubbed ‘’Mwooyo’’ A style and culture appreciated by his massive social media followers, fans & music enthusiasts.
He has performed in over 35 Countries, and collaborated in performances with the likes of American superstar, NE-YO, German superstar Mark Forster, and American actor and idols winner Jordin Sparks.
