I Gain Nothing From NUP – Eddy Yawe

Veteran musician Eddy Yawe has come out and distance himself from the main opposition party National Unity Platform (NUP).

Despite the party being led by his young brother Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine, Yawe claims that he gains nothing from the party.

Eddy Yawe went on to explain that however much he is a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP) but he has no office at the party headquarters.

He also declined to run for any office on the party ticket in the 2021 general elections because he can still earn bread without being in politics.

“I don’t earn anything from NUP but when you buy a new car or build a house, social media people claim you are eating big from the opposition. I even chose not to contest in 2021 because many were alleging I want to use Bobi Wine’s influence to go to parliament,” Yawe said.

Yawe however did not rule out running for the parliamentary position in the coming 2026 elections. It should be noted that he ran for parliamentary position in both 2011 and 2016 general elections but unfortunately, he was defeated on both ocassions.

Eddy Yawe started singing when he joined Kinoni church choir in 1997 after his secondary education. He and two others formed a music band called Dimension 2000, through which they connected to different artists.

The vocalist released his first album, Pamela, while he was in Netherlands for studies. After moving to the US, he started Dream Studio, which he transferred to Uganda after moving back.

In 2021, he unveiled his multi-million mansion located in Wakiso District.
