Bebe Cool tips Uganda to win more international awards

Ugandan music icon and Gagamel boss Bebe Cool is hopeful that Ugandan artists will keep shining at the international level and will win more international awards.

Bebe Cool said this after Eddy Kenzo got nominated for the Grammy Awards 2023 something he say that it is a stepping stone for many Ugandan artists.

Kenzo was announced among the nominees for the 65th annual Grammy Awards which will be handed out on February 5, 2023 in Los Angeles.

The ‘Sitya Loss’ hit maker was nominated for his Gimme Love, a song in which he featured with American singer Matt B.

Now according to Bebe Cool, this a beggining for Ugandan artists to win such big accolades on the international scene.

“I congratulate Kenzo upon the nomination and it’s something we can appreciate as Ugandans. Many will win because the first shot has been taken,” Bebe Cool said.

‘Gimme Love’ has been nominated for the best global music performance.

It will be facing competition from Udhero Na by Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar, Last Last by Burna Boy, Neva Bow Down by Rocky Dawuni featuring Blvk H3ro, and Bayethe Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode.

The nomination made Eddy Kenzo the first Ugandan artist to be nominated at the Grammy Awards.

He has also won numerous national and international awards, including a BET Award in 2015, a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award in 2018, and multiple other continental awards.
